Whether it’s stain removal or routine maintenance, a big part of keeping your carpet looking it’s best is choosing the right carpet cleaning supplies. Your carpet is one of the largest and most notable piece of furniture you have in your house. It’s usually one of the first things people notice when they enter your home. Obviously, you want to keep it as clean as possible. This not only keeps it looking nice, but it serves several health purposes as well.

Things To Consider

There are several things you need to consider before you choose your supplies. Choosing supplies involves more than just running to the store and buying the first product you see on the shelf. The first thing to think about is what type of job you’ll be doing. Obviously, there are different products available for different types of cleaning. You also need to know your carpet well. You should be aware of what type of carpet it is and how it should be cleaned. This information is often included on the tag when you get your carpet.

For cleaning up spills, you should have a good supply of rags and towels around the house. This is especially true if you have children. For stain removal, the type of carpet cleaning supplies you choose will depend largely on the type of stain you are dealing with. Juice stains may be handled better with one product over another. The same with pet urine or whatever else you’re dealing with.

There are also a number of carpet cleaning machines on the market. These machines will give your carpet a deeper cleaning than your vacuum cleaner can give. They come in a large variety of steamers and shampooers and each manufacturer will recommend products that work best with their type of machine.

In addition to deep cleaning and stain removal, you will also need to perform general cleaning on your carpet. Carpet cleaning supplies you will need for this will include a good vacuum cleaner and possibly some deodorizer, especially if you have pets. It’s recommended that you vacuum your carpets once a week, but if you have children and/or pets, you’re probably going to want to do it at least every other day. This will prevent pet hair and other allergens from accumulating in your carpet. Just remember to keep in mind what type of carpet you have, because some carpet cleaning supplies are not recommended for certain types of carpets.

The first thing any product will tell you is to test the product on a small inconspicuous area of your carpet first, to release them from liability if it does stain, so it is a good idea to not leave it to chance, and go ahead and do the test. Keep a good amount of carpet cleaning supplies handy at all times. You never know when you are going to need them. The last thing you want is to have a spill turn into a stain because you didn’t have the right products for getting it out in time.
