Having a cluttered and disorganized home is such a pain. It has been a major problem for many home owners. Others would consider it a useless habit while others would consider it simply as scavenging. You’re not at fault however. Back in the old days, they never get to deal with a lot of junk. They don’t have many things that we have today. Most people have too many things with only a limited time to take care of them. Most of these people have not had the chance to have paper works, clothes and more clothes, and also bills from different appliances that have not been there in the yesteryears.

Here are some golden tips you have to know about how to declutter the home.

1.    Schedule a declutter day: Decide on how you’re going to declutter a specific area at home. Do it fifteen minutes each day. Don’t try to overdo it. It took a while to have the home cluttered and so it takes that time to declutter it as well. You have to follow the steps accordingly. In a month or two, you will find things to be a lot better than before.
2.    Prepare decluttering equipments: It became an essential how to declutter tip. How are you going to declutter without the tools? You should have the basic tools such as brooms, dust rags, boxes and anything to place some old stuffs in. Label the boxes, the ones that you will keep in the storage room, the ones to give away, and the ones to throw away.
3.    Donate your decluttered stuff: It may be difficult to give away some old things because of its sentimental value but when it takes so much space you have to decide whether to keep it or not. Just so you don’t feel so bad about letting it go, donate it.
4.    You can begin in one corner or in the entrance of a room. You can then work on towards other parts later. You should not miss out on any area.
5.    Be consistent: A significant how to declutter tip is to keep on with the plan. You have to follow the date and time in your declutter schedule. Once you start skipping the planned time and date, things will start to look untidy once more. When this happens, clutter is going to pile up again and you have to start from square one.

So there you have it. Hope these tips will help you declutter your home.

Natural All Purpose Cleaner

December 15th, 2009    Subscribe To Our Feed

The Seventh Generation Natural All Purpose Cleaner is a non-toxic, biodegradable, hypo-allergenic, pet-safe, kid-friendly, kosher-certified cleaning spray that comes in two different varieties; Free & Clear and Green Mandarin & Leaf. This product is designed to de-grease hard surfaces, mop floors and clean countertops effectively, without leaving behind those powerful headache-inducing fumes. Retailing at .99, these products are more expensive than competitive brands, but deals can often be found at sites like www.amazon.com and www.drugstore.com. As with any product, there are pros and cons to choosing this item.

“The best part is that I don’t have to get it at some overpriced specialty store; they have it right in my local Albertson’s,” one reviewer says of the Seventh Generation Natural All Purpose Cleaner. Other consumers like that it doesn’t irritate their skin, eyes, lungs, pets or children. “Just switched over from Lysol-brand bathroom cleaners, and this works just as well, with no caustic smell and no more need to wear gloves,” explains one fan of this natural cleaner. Consumers indicate that they use this spray on cars, countertops, stoves, linoleum floors, showers, faucets, tubs and tiles.

However, there are a few qualms about the Seventh Generation Natural All Purpose Cleaner too. Store Trooper Karen Kirkman says she prefers Lysol All-Purpose and that the Seventh Generation didn’t get the stains out of her porcelain sink. In reviews at www.drugstore.com, consumers commented that they sometimes get streaks on mirrors or a filmy residue with this product. Reviewers have described the scent as “fishy,” “chemical” and “strange.” Some of the raters at www.ecohuddle.com said they were disappointed with the “cleaning power” of this product, although they admitted that they’re not really “into cleaning that often” or that they hoped the product would tackle larger messes and stains.

Seventh Generation’s line of green cleaning products, including their Natural All Purpose Cleaner, are looking to inspire more consumers to get into the eco-friendly spirit. The company’s co-founder often pens op-ed pieces for The Huffington Post, mentioning that he feels we should have one gold standard for environmental products that fancy themselves “natural,” “organic” or “green.” The absence of such standards creates a sort of “Wild West” of cleaning products, he says, which sows doubt into the minds of consumers and leads them to fear they’re being led along for the ride as manufacturers charge higher prices; not because the naturally derived ingredients cost more but just because they can.

You can have shining windows in 14 steps

December 15th, 2009    Subscribe To Our Feed

Many people consider cleaning outside windows to be one of the most difficult cleaning jobs. Luckily for you, these tips should make window cleaning less daunting.

1. Before you get going, collect together all of your supplies. Nothing slows down chores more than having to stop every few minutes to look for something you forgot.

2. Fill up a tub, bowl or bucket with warm water and a glass cleaning solution.

3. Before you start cleaning the outside windows, remove the screens (if you have them) and use the garden hose to wash them down with cold water. If they are really dirty you can rub a wet cloth over them and then use the garden hose on them for another go.

4. Then, you can start getting rid of any debris and cobwebs from around the window. First use an old sweeping brush to clear around the frame. Then gently rinse down the area with more water from your garden hose.

5. Next, start washing the window. Soak your sponge to start. With window washing, adopt the ’start from the top and work your way down’ rule. As you are washing, use a squeegee to wipe water away from the glass, drying the squeegee with a towel after each wipe.

Cleaning Interior Windows

6. Just like before, make sure all of your supplies are close to hand.

7. Mix the appropriate solution of warm water and window cleaning solution in a bucket.

8. Before you start washing the window, lay a towel on the floor.

9. Next step, dust and clean the frame. It’ll look silly to have shiny windows in a dirty frame.

10. After cleaning the window frame, take a clean sponge and soak it in the water. Cleaning the window would be done in the exact same way as you would outside. Againuse gravity to your advantage by starting at the top and working downwards. Use the squeegee to wipe away any surface water.

11. When finished cleaning the windows you can use a clean cloth to dry the window frames.

Some other methods you can use to clean windows include:

12. You can use alcohol or an ammonia window cleaning solution as apposed to a water and detergent. Mix it with water and pour it in a spray bottle, then it is ready to use. After you’ve sprayed the windows, wipe clean with a paper towel.

Some helpful window cleaning tips are:

13. Don’t try to wash windows in direct sunlight. You don’t want the soap drying onto the window before you can wipe them clean.

14. You will find squeegees very helpful when you’re washing windows. You should use them on every window, except for very small windows where it will not fit. Windows too small to use the squeegee can be polished using paper towels and glass cleaner spray.
