A lot of people think that in order to clean your floor you need to spend a lot of money on various products created especially for the job.  No matter what sort of floors you have installed, you want to keep them beautifully clean.  Steam cleaners are great but not cheap.Try a few of the ideas below and see how proud you can be of your floors.

If you need to remove grease from your floor then try adding a few drops of vinegar into the water and the clean. No-wax linoleum can often suffer from a horrible greasy film so all you do is take 1/2 a gallon of water and add in half a cup of cheap white vinegar.

For fantastic wood floors then you will need Vegetable Oil and vinegar. To do this all you need is equal amounts of oil and vinegar and then just apply thinly to your floor. Rub in well.

If your wood floor is painted, combine 1 teaspoon washing soda into 1 gallon hot water and then use a mop, soft brush or sponge to wash the floor.  This also works wonders on mildew.

For brick and stone floors you can again utilize vinegar. Take a gallon of water and add in a cup of white vinegar. Use this solution to scrub your flooring with the help of a brush. Rinse with clean water.

When it comes to ceramic tiles you can simply use vinegar.  Mix 1/4 cup white vinegar (more if very dirty) into 1 gallon water. This solution  removes most dirt without scrubbing and doesn’t leave a film. Washing ceramic tiles with soap does not work very well in hard water areas because of the insoluble film that is left behind.

Baking soda is an amazing product for all sorts of cleaning jobs in the home including getting rid of black heel marks.  Rub the heel mark with a paste of baking soda and water. Don’t use too much water or the baking soda will lose its abrasiveness.
