When taking on the task of cleaning the house it is imperative to use the correct cleaning supplies. This is vitally important! You do not want the surfaces you are cleaning to get damaged by using the wrong product on them. The essential cleaning supplies will aid you in your task of cleaning as it will take less effort and time.
First of all, read the label on each cleaning product before you purchase it from a store. The solutions, common uses, and warnings are listed on the labels.Products labeled “all purpose” may not be best for all kinds of surfaces so don’t be fooled but do be careful. Some surfaces that are made of laminate or plastic could be permanently damaged with products that contain strong chemicals such as ammonia.A strong cleaner isn’t always necessary to do the job.Mild soap and a bucket of warm water is all it takes sometimes.
It doesn’t matter if you are ready to do your big annual house cleaning or just a little light housekeeping you should gather all essential cleaning supplies first before you start. The question is what are the essential supplies that you will be using most often? To answer that question you must first think about the things that you need to clean.
The most efficient way of cleaning is to start from the ceiling and work your way down to the floor. The basic essential cleaning supplies you will need are rags so that you can dust cobwebs in the corners, the tops of shelves and ledges, and ceiling fan blades. The truth is that an old rag works just as well as cleaning products on the market when it comes to getting rid of the dust.To uses rags that are made form old t-shirts or mismatched socks is cost effective. Rags can be washed and used again rather then thrown out. Even though the rag will remove cobwebs nicely you will need to use furniture polish to dust your shelves and other wood surfaces.Your cleaning kit should not only have rags but also furniture polish.
Your cleaning kit must also contain a window washing cleaner because it is an essential cleaning product.Beware of all the advertisements for expensive products that say they are a streak free product because an inexpensive cleaner will give you the same shine. The trick to a streak free shine without using those expensive products is to use newspaper to wipe your window instead of paper towels and a bargain window cleaner works just fine.So that you have somewhere to put your newspaper keep a brown paper bag or two in your cleaning kit. Then you can throw the bag in the recycle bin when you are done cleaning.
An anti-bacterial spray should also be included in your bucket of essential cleaning supplies. There are a lot of products out there that work well and are fine to use on many types of surfaces and are specifically made for cleaning different parts of the house. You need products that will clean bathroom and kitchen counters and surfaces and will also remove soap scum and mildew.
The last thing to be cleaned in a room is the floor. A mop, bucket, and floor cleaner are essential for cleaning all non-carpeted areas; however, it is not practical to carry these things from room to room as you clean. Store these things all in the same place and then you can easily pull them out to use when needed. Then vacuum all carpeted areas. You can use a rug freshener like a powder or spray on your carpet if you desire and put it in your cleaning kit also.
Once you have all your essential cleaning supplies, keep them all together in a bucket or box of some sort. The job of cleaning becomes easier and more efficient when you have all your supplies and they are organized.
